Events: Waipoua Forest Fun Run & Walk 2010
The 2010 Waipoua Forest Run & Walk Event (Sunday 16 May) was an amazing success. Fortunately enough the weather gods blessed us with fantastic weather that the 312 participants I am sure appreciated.
This year we were also very privileged to have had an Olympian from Japan join us who placed a very credible second. Takehiro Sonohara competed in the 50km Walk at the Barcelona Games. In total there were 38 Japanese participants.
The Waipoua Visitors Centre was this year's new finish line and presented all participants with the perfect location to applaud those who finished or to swap stories of bravery.
There were some awesome spot prizes up for grabs and so a big thank you to all sponsors (Adobe Acrobat - 186kb) for their contribution including the two primary sponsors the Far North and the Kaipara District Councils.
We would also like to thank the whanau of Te Roroa, Steve Allen, Classic Hits, GHD, St Johns, Police, Kaikohe Maori Wardens and the Opononi Lions for all their help and support. As there are so many people to thank please forgive us if we have missed you out.
Congratulations to all the participants.
We look forward to 2011 and hope that you might be able to join us for the fourth running of the Waipoua Run & Walk Event.
