It's been an incredibly busy summer despite the weather. Many thanks to all those who support Footprints Waipoua and Crossings Hokianga, we certainly appreciate this support.

Koro to leave Footprints & Crossings
Koro has decided to move back to Auckland so that he can be closer to his 6 year old daughter and to explore new opportunities and challenges. Koro has had the privilege of being involved with Footprints and Crossings since their inception. He is very proud of what both Footprints and Crossings has achieved and is extremely excited about the future of both businesses and tourism in general in the Hokianga. The challenge to ensure that the work continues will now rest with a new team of very capable and passionate people. Koro will retain the same mobile number until further notice but an interim contact e-mail address is crossings@xtra.co.nz.

Kyle Brown aka Brownie will be taking over the role of Manager for Footprints Waipoua and Crossings Hokianga. Many of you will know that Brownie is also the General Manager of the Copthorne Hotel & Resort Hokianga.

We would like to announce two new staff members to the Footprints & Crossings TEAM. Lisa Wikaira will be the new face on the frontline and your first point of contact. She will be replying to your bookings, enquiries and any other general information including Accounts queries. Lisa is a local who has spent the last 3 months working on the Front Desk at the Copthorne Hotel & Resort Hokianga. Lisa is a quick learner who is very customer service focused, efficient and an organised individual. She has certainly impressed colleagues and guests with the way she has tackled tasks during this short time. Matiu Korewha will be joining our team as a part time tour guide. Matiu is a local who spent 25 years exploring the world as a professional backpacker. He has worked as a tour guide in Australia, Africa, England, France and other interesting places as well as spending time working on P&O Cruise ships. All weekend phone and e-mail enquiries will be re-directed to the Copthorne Hotel & Resort Hokianga Front Desk. The phone will be transferred to the Copthorne Hotel & Resort Hokianga on Lisa's day off.

2012 Tane Mahuta Fun Run & Walk Event
Join us on Sunday 6 May 2012 as we set off from the iconic Tane Mahuta and explore the beautiful Waipoua forest on foot. With two distances available and catering for serious runners through to casual walking groups, the Tane Mahuta track is achievable with a combination of flat-bush walking tracks and sealed roads.

Waipoua Forest provides a picturesque backdrop for the annual Tane Mahuta Fun Run and Walk. Commencing from Tane Mahuta and winding its way down the road beneath the mantle of ancient Kauri trees, giant ferns, Totara, Rimu and Taraire, finishing along the off road bush track to the Waipoua Forest Visitor Centre.

For the social participants we encourage you to bring your camera so you can capture images of the exquisite flora and fauna only found in Northland, New Zealand.
