At Footprints of Waipoua we believe in the life changing force of the magnificent Kauri of the Waipoua forest.
To see them is to be left awestruck. Combine that with our intimate tours, showcasing how these taonga are intertwined with the lives of local Māori, mythology and the important role they play in the forest eco-system – and we believe we have the makings of a ‘life changing’ event.
Our local guides take you through nature's stages of evolution. Providing a mythological and interactive interpretation of life in the forest, with some of the largest remaining kauri trees in the world.
Working with Te Roroa iwi, we strive to address the challenges the Waipoua forest faces now and in the future. Relationship building and kaitiakitanga are integral to the way we operate.
From local insights, history and mythology to ecological importance as well as their magnificent presence – the Kauri of Waipoua forest are a taonga (treasure) for all of Aotearoa to discover.
